Mennorode, 12 - 14 March 2010

The convention committee is proud to invite you to the 27th edition of our Origami Convention in Mennorode, Elspeet.

Special guest

Jens-Helge DahmenThis year's special guest is Jens-Helge Dahmen from Berlin, Germany. He first came in contact with origam at the age of 23. In 2002 he encounters origami again, because his children want to learn how to fold planes from the book “The great International Paper Airplane Book” by Jerry Mander and others. Then he started to design himself and has compiled 2 books:  “Origami aus Neptuns Reich” en “Blutenzauber mit Origami”. Most models are threedimensional. At the convention he will surely show new designs. We are very pleased with his appearance.

Exhibition and paper

There will be an exhibition room where you can display your projects. It would be great if many people would contribute so everyone can enjoy what we all make.

Jorigami and Myabi will be present with their paper and books collections.

The Second Mennorode Origami ATC Swap

The first Origami ATC swap was an astounding success. The participants created true pieces of art which were also enjoyed by the visitors. So there will be a new Origami ATC swap at the next convention.

This year's theme is:  “Fold a song”

Express a song on a card. It can be a children's rhyme, a popsong, your favorite song, a classical music piece, any song. You can use any technique as long as there is at least one origami model on the card. Put the name of the song on the back of the card, so people can guess first or figure out which song was intended.
Just make 20 identical cards for the time being.

The rules of our Mennorode origami ATC swap:

  • The size of your card should be 64 x 89 mm (2, 5 x 3, 5 inches).
  • On your decorated card have at least one origami model.
  • Do not make it thicker than 3 mm. Otherwise it will not fit into the sleeve.
  • Please make a card you would like to receive yourself.
  • For the moment, you make 20 identical cards.
  • Please print on the back side of the card the following items in italic.
Fold a song (Title of the swap)
Song title (Title of the song)
Kabuto/Traditional (The model, the designer)
1/20 (Number of this card in the serie / the total number of cards)

How does it work?

If you wish to participate, sign up before 1 January 2010. You will be notified on the number of card you need to make after that date.
We will swap the cards in person at the Mennorode convention.
However you do not need to attend in order to participate. You can send the cards along with an attendee or mail them to me. Let me know in advance what you wish to do. For signup and information email Meike van Stigt Thans (I’m your host) at moatcs [at] hotmail [dot] com.  As soon as I know more about the number of attendees, I will let you know.  You will then know how many cards you need to bring along.  And I will let you know the place and the time for the swap.
